NSW Independent Casino Commission (NICC) Chief Commissioner Philip Crawford has detailed Crown Sydney’s turnaround and pathway to suitability in an opinion piece for the UK-based InterGaming magazine.
Mr Crawford was invited to submit the editorial to share learnings with other jurisdictions after the NICC was honoured with the award for Regulatory Excellence by the International Association of Gaming Regulators (IAGR) in October 2025.
The award recognised the NICC’s work leading the three-year remediation program at Crown Sydney following the Bergin Inquiry in 2021.
This intense remediation program resulted in the elimination of high-roller junkets, the prevention of money laundering and the introduction of more scrutinised gambling harm minimisation measures at the casino.
